Inspired by Barbara Hepworth’s Pierced Forms, in which she creates shape and volume by cutting away, the exhibition design Presence through Absence is grounded in the idea that creation can occur through subtraction. From nothing to something.
Our aim is to distill Hepworth’s work to its essence by reducing the spatial experience to a minimum. There is space, there are the works, and there is zenithal light. The absence of sensory stimuli creates room for inner experience and reflection.
